Pebble Hunting: Watching the Worst Game of 2011 →
Today on Baseball Prospectus, Sam Miller watches and sort of live blogs the worst game of 2011 (as determined here), which also happens to be a game where the Giants scored about a month’s worth of offense in nine innings. These last few days before pitchers and catchers report feel like they’re lasting FOR-EV-ER. I’m almost tempted to fire up MLB.tv and re-watch this game...

The episode is now...

Farewell to Andres Torres, nicest guy on the... →
Torres made it easy to keep loving him. He was open about his attention deficit disorder, agreeing to be the focus of a documentary on the subject. He contributed to the Giants “It Gets Better” video. He won the Willie Mac award. It seemed like everywhere you looked, there was a photo of Andres Torres, dressed like he’s headed to the disco, posing with a smiling fan or slightly bashful kid. I’m...

Giants Acquire Melky Cabrera For Jonathan Sanchez,... →
THAT’S SO SABEAN.
I know Jonathan Sanchez was a frustrating pitcher to watch at times, but I spent so many years pulling for him to put it all together and defending him that I’d kind of grown attached to the guy and his overly manicured eyebrows. The sentimental part of me is going to miss the guy, especially if I have to watch Barry Zito pitch every fifth day next year.
Goodbye,...

My San Francisco Giants World Series tribute video, blocked on YouTube in every country except Japan.
One year ago today, the Giants won the World Series. I thought it was a good time to reblog myself and re-post the cheesy video I made to celebrate their playoff run and World Series victory.
I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of watching highlights from 2010. Ever.

Big shots: Players down snake blood in Taiwan →
One of the fun things to do in this part of Taiwan is to head over to one of the “night markets” around the city, where you can gorge on the many culinary delicacies of the region, haggle with boisterous shop owners on prices for shoes or candy or snacks, and yes, drink the blood of a serpent.
There were differing opinions as to why certain members of Major League Baseball’s...

Giants re-sign Javier Lopez to two-year contract,... →
I know Brian Sabean said he and the other members of the front office would be too busy to watch the World Series this year, but a part of me can’t help but wonder if he saw the quality of pitching (or you know, lack thereof) in the World Series and said, “OH MY GOD MUST RE-SIGN THE LOOGYS. NOW.”
