mncookies: The Classic Candlestick Park I can remember the first time I set foot inside of this place. I was eight. It was bat day. By the time we arrived, they had run out of bats, but gave us rain checks to get one later. (I still have the bat.) I didn’t even care that I didn’t get a bat that day, or that our seats were near the top of the park. Once I saw the field and that beautiful green grass, I was in love. My parents had expected my brother and me to get bored and want to leave early. We stayed for the whole game. I was hooked. Even now, years later, although the Giants play in a new (and admittedly much more beautiful) ballpark, whenever I set foot inside, no matter how many times I’ve been there before, and see that beautiful green grass, I feel the exact same way I did back at Candlestick when I was eight.
